Rockin' the JC

I've been travelin' and recordin' these past few weeks. The bluegrass CD is coming along great, and the new "Shining Like The Son: the Best of Bob Rice" is now available! I and the Backyard Galaxy guys got to do a benefit concert to kick off the new disc. It was a really fun show. Thanks to all who came out to it.

Though I have to admit, it's a bit weird doing a concert where I teach. I mean, I know I do concerts at Franciscan all the time, but they are usually over the summer to a different crowd. I realized when I made an announcement in class that i was doing a concert that weekend that many students had no idea that I could even play an instrument. I can imagine how they felt. How would you feel if one of your professors said, "hey kids, come hear me play music this weekend!" Thankfully, it was a benefit concert so it didn't feel too cheezy. And we raised over $1,000 for kids in the Steubenville area. Very nice.

BTW, I really am 34. Some people seem shocked by that. Did you think I was older or younger?

Personally, I do think you look a LOT older than 34... more like 45 or so. Must be the beard. Concert rocked man, it was fun making up moves to "Shining Like the Sun", but what made me laugh was that other people actually did them.
God bless

Nah, I think you look 34. And are you serious that most of your students haven't a clue that you do music? Wow....

Yea Bob, it was a great show....I don't know if you saw me? I was sitting right in front, indian-style, right next to your son Bobby. We were talking about how goofy Bozak looks. He's quite an insightful young lad. -Matt

Do you offer extra credit if your students provide the "correct" answer? - Like an A+ to the student that suggests that you couldn't possibly be a day over 25.

Being your sister, Bobbie, I will keep my age thoughts to myself...

Pretty hard to believe that your students don't know your music talents. I thought you'd be singing your lectures by now.

Wow! This is weird...I was just downloading old cd's onto my computer, stuck in my old and favorite The Crowd cd, and randomly got curious...so I googled you! Who knew! I am so glad that you are still making music and have been so successful. Your children are absolutely beautiful! This is Theresa Johnson (was Stockdreher) from your good ole Rollins days! I have often wonderd where you ended up, and by the looks of it you have put all of your many talents to very good use! I will definitely have to check out some of your newer music, considering I have still cherished that which is going on about 14 years old (does that date us, or what?)....Have a great day!
