At least, I think it's going to be a bluegrass album. I'm not sure, because I've never done one before. But I am very excited about it. I've been a fan of bluegrass for a long time, and I've written songs over the years that I really liked but havent recorded because they sounded so different from the other stuff that we were making with my band, Backyard Galaxy. A few months ago, I realized I had an album's worth of strong material. So then I prayed, "Lord, if you want me to do this, you need to give me a clear sign." That night I was having dinner with a friend who, out of the blue, turned to me and said, "You know we need? A good Catholic bluegrass album." And I hadn't mentioned a thing about bluegrass, or my desire to do it.
So I'm doing some writing touch-ups and starting to book studio time. I'm really excited because Fr. Edward Richard (pronounced RE-shard, he's cajun) is going to play banjo on it. Check out his page at "msmissionmusic.org"
The working title is "Battle Hymns". I'm also excited about it because I'll be able to play more accordion than I've been able to do on the rock stuff. Keep it in your prayers!
